Senior Satellite Engineer - MUOS Integration and Operations
General Dynamics provides engineering support to the Naval Satellite Operations Center (NAVSOC) in operations of on-orbit satellites as well as assisting in preparation for new programs. The Mobile User Objective System (MUOS), due to launch in Dec, 2009, will be controlled from NAVSOC for Launch and Early Orbit and Operational phases. General Dynamics seeks an experienced engineer to lead our efforts in supporting NAVSOC as it incorporates this new mission.
The MUOS lead engineer will develop an in depth understating of all aspects of the MUOS program as well as the NAVSOC concept of operations and will make sound recommendations to NAVSOC on the integration of the MUOS mission. The MUOS lead will direct the efforts of the General Dynamics team supporting MUOS and contribute to the completion of all MUOS tasking. The MUOS lead will also work directly with our NAVSOC customer and interface with PMW-146 (the procuring agency), Lockheed Martin (vehicle manufacturer), and their subcontractors, as directed by our customer.

The Ground-based Missile Defense (GMD) Advanced Programs group is seeking a radar engineer. The assignments for this position are research, model and simulation development, algorithm evaluation, and performance analysis of RF sensors, ranging in frequency from UHF to X band. Modeling and simulation will range from low-fidelity (analytical) to high fidelity (pulse-to-pulse), depending on the analysis requirement. Performance analyses will be conducted at systems and subsystems levels for varying environments and threats. Candidates should be willing to develop proficiency in using a variety of radar and simulation tools existing in the missile defense community to support these analyses if necessary. The position includes opportunities to work independently and/or as a member of an integrated product team to evaluate and/or enhance radar performance in the areas of handover, acquisition, tracking, feature extraction, and target classification and discrimination. Additional activities may include integration of radar models into GMD system simulations to assess the impact of radar improvements and/or upgrades on system level effectiveness.

Engineering DIRECTOR -- Radar Systems
Overall technical responsibility for radar system development, system architecture definition, integration and test.
Responsible for the technical execution of the program, which includes development planning, product development process, technical risk management, and technical coordination between all disciplines.

Expert in radar range equation, ambiguity functions, clutter, target, and propagation models. Knowledgeable with aspects of radar signal processing including coherent integration, pulse compression, detection, CFAR, clutter filtering, Doppler processing, space time adaptive processing, ECM/ECCM, target tracking, schedulers, stretch processing, target classification, discrimination, and identification. Experience in subsystems including antennas, beam steering, receiver/exciters, signal and data processors, mechanical structures and software. Excellent writing and presentation skills.

Radar Technician

The Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (IFSAR) Technician reports to the Field Manager. Primary duties are to operate, calibrate, and maintain the radar system at the field acquisition sites. As a result, this job proceeds with limited supervision, and requires excellent work ethic and people skills. The Technician will be based with the aircraft and provide system operations and ground processing support. To provide effective operations support it is critical that these functions be performed in a very timely, efficient and accurate manner. In addition to operating the airborne radar, the Technician will also observe and report radar performance to the Field Manager and Maintenance Coordinator. A secondary aspect of the responsibilities is to provide post-processing support through the use of SysDAP and Data Transcription software programs. Extensive travel, both domestic and foreign, is a requirement for this position. This position may include other duties (office duties and field duties as directed).

The IFSAR Technician has a variety of responsibilities associated with the collection and processing of interferometric data. These responsibilities include:
•Operation of IFSAR and Differential Global Positioning System equipment in the field, both airborne and ground-based
•Routine maintenance and upgrades of IFSAR hardware
•Trouble-shooting and correction of problems with electronic components and liaising with the Maintenance Coordinator / Radar Operator Technical Lead
•Operation of PC-based software systems for navigation and IFSAR data processing, and transcription
•General technical support to the IFSAR technical team
